It is the uncomfortable situation or adversity in our surrounding that force us to adapt to a new situation. When the situation is big in its essence than our control over it. We then are supposed to adapt those skills that are helpful in dealing with that situation. It refers to a state of upgrading or sometimes completely redesigning the mind and body. While the physical evolution of species has happened on it's own over centuries, psychological evolution and adaptation are all in our hands. The start of any adaptation is difficult but once you have adapted, it goes easier for you to adapt other things as well, especially those where similar skills that you learnt during the previous adaptation are required.
Why do we adapt?
Change is the law of nature. And it is what the only constant as well. It will never be linear and that poses an urgency to deal with that change in order to survive.
What do you need for that?
Life skills according to the nature of the situation. The study of adaptation in animals state migration, camouflage, hibernation and resource conservation as ways for them to adapt to a new environmental situation. These techniques are not just limited to animals but we humans also do the same."When the storm comes, it's better to lie low" advises caution and prudence in challenging or turbulent situations. Here, we are also metaphorically hibernating, not in a den but by staying calm, avoiding unnecessary risks and not drawing attention to oneself. Let it pass rather than confronting it head-on. Sometimes to protect ourselves, we camouflage, pretend to be like the ones whom we are actually protecting ourselves from. Where on one side, migrating from one place fetches you new opportunities, mindset and a complete new environment, the side of conserving money all through your life can indeed save you from many disasters. This all is adaptation. Infact the lack of challenges can always put us aside from realising our true potential and the ability to deal with anything and everything.
But here's a twist. Adapting something that doesn't empower you is not meant to be done. It's you, who has to balance the cooperation with others with your own empowerment. So that a wholesome both sided adaptation can happen.
